چکیده
Abstract The morphological differences between the sexes of a species is relevant to its captive breeding, ethology, and eco-biology are studied extensively in fishes. In this paper, we analyzed sexual dimorphism cyprinid Nilgiri melon barb, Haludaria fasciata (Jerdon), their external structures, size, shape. Physical examination, microscopical analysis, morphometric geometrical analyses both fish were conducted. presence tubercle pits protuberant tubercles on snout orbital region observed males, while these absent females. Smaller-sized arranged like serration pectoral fin males. Body size analysis indicated significant (P < 0.05) body depth, fork length, eye diameter, caudal length. Shape that coordinate lengths L8 L1 two significantly different sexes. global redundancy trace vertices, males population had more substantial variations shapes than did paper discusses possible functions linked with dimorphic traits identified H. .

the carob moth, ectomyelois ceratoniae (zeller), belongs to the family pyralidae and the subfamily phycitinae. in spite of some features of sexual dimorphism in size and shape in the order lepidoptera and the mentioned family, it has not been recorded in this species. in the current study, sexual dimorphism in the wing shape and size of carob moth on four hosts (pomegranate, fig, pistachio and ...
متن کاملSexual size dimorphism in anurans.
Several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the direction and extent of sexual size dimorphism in anurans (in which males are usually smaller than females) as a result of sexual selection. Here, we present an analysis to test the hypothesis that sexual dimorphism in anurans is largely a function of differences between the sexes in life-history strategies. Morphological and demographic data...

متن کاملSexual Size Dimorphism of the Musk Duck
—We examined sexual size dimorphism of a lek-displaying diving duck from Australia, the Musk Duck (Biziura lobata). Like other lek-displaying species, Musk Ducks exhibit extreme sexual size dimorphism in addition to structural dimorphism. Body mass ratios (male:female) for Musk Ducks are among the highest reported for birds (more than 3:1). Multivariate analyses of 16 anatomical measurements in...
